28 September 1882 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 28th September [1882]. Did not go out all day. Pasted despatches. Mrs Burr took out Alice & Mildred to see the Frari church. Henry took the Gregorys to see Favenza’s things & Arthur went out with Giovanni– Cortelazzo arrived from Vicenza looking miserable & ill. Lady Galway called & brought Mrs Palk to introduce to me a lady who is separated from a bad husband & has been here for the last 6 months with her children. She is delicate looking with rather a hard expression & thin lips & not prepossessing. Played the piano to Arthur in the evening– Cortelazzo slept at hotel.
