2 October 1882 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 2nd October [1882]. Mrs Burr left for Milan by 7 train in morning. At 10 Henry took off the Gregorys, Alice & Mildred to Torcello & Burano. I remained at home with headache. Abt 12 Dr Richetti came & looked at the boil on my chest & pronounced it nearly well. Olga came to lunch with me & then we took a little walk together to the Piazza & a little way towards the giardini publici & then came to the traghetto opposite & just as we were coming across we saw our gondola arrive from Torcello. They had spent a pleasant day & were all in spirits. In the evening there was a serenade & Henry took out Sir Wm, Mildred & Alice– Lady G. & I remained at home—as she was very tired. Just after we had gone to our rooms the galleggiante came in sight & passed our house. It looked very pretty at the distance.
