5 October 1882 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Thursday. 5th October [1882]. I modelled– Alice read aloud to me. At 12 gave Mildred her German lesson– After luncheon went out in gondola to meet Henry, Alice & Mildred who walked to the Stabilimento. From there we went to Signor Felici’s studio to see the bas reliefs he is making for the staircase in M. Franchetti’s house. On to Rietti’s shop to see a stone door case—beautifully carved wh Henry thinks of buying & an iron well top wh he thought Merthyr wd like. Then home– Mrs Briscoe called. She is wife of one of the Captains of P. & D. line. Tea & work at 5. Dinner at 7. Sat in studio in evening– Cribbage. | |
