19 October 1882 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 19th October [1882]. We all felt very queer & headachy after our nocturnal expedition & I did not get up to breakfast & did nothing much all day. Alice & Mildred stayed in all day being lovely weather I went out for a row with Henry we went round the walls of the Arsenal & the view of the distant mountains was lovely. When I came home I drove Alice & Mildred from their books on to the roof for a little fresh air. Mme de Pilat came to see me to find out how we were after our last night’s work.
