20 October 1882 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Friday. 20th October [1882]. Mildred read to me before breakfast. In the morning I modelled & Alice read aloud & I gave Mildred her German lesson. After lunch we went to see the Churches of S. Zaccaria & the Salute & then in search of Biraghi near the station who wrote for us to go & see a fine carved chimney piece he had. When we got there we found it was at another house at S. Rocco & we went there but found it was not worth the trouble & so came home. Reading in my room after tea. | |
