6 November 1882 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Monday. 6th November [1882]. Mildred having a little sore throat stayed in bed to breakfast– Afterwards Alice came running to say Mildred had been bitten by the cockatoo & I went to see & found he had been brought to her room, had flown on to her head & both being frightened she had put her hand to get him away & every time he had pecked at her– I soothed her & did up her wounds wh after all were not very severe. Modelled till lunch. Henry & Mr Burton & Alice went out to see the collection of pictures of Zanetti now a sort of dealer but a descendant of Zanetti the writer. He showed them old & finely bound copies of his ancestors writings. Mildred & I remained at home– I modelled till dark– M—worked roasted chestnuts & told stories. T. downstairs. Mme Hurtado & Misses Hallé called—the latter leave tomorrow for England– Mildred & I sat working till dinner time & talking to Mr Burton– After dinner I played harmonium. | |
