7 November 1882 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Tuesday. 7th November 1882. Dr Hochrath of Berlin Gallery came to see our pictures wh Henry & Mr Burton showed him. I laid out on the ground in the studio my yellow curtain & arranged the flowers on it & then got Mr Burton to come & give me his advice. This took me till lunch. After lunch, Henry, Alice & Mr Burton went to see the Giustinian pictures & sent the gondola back for me. I took Mildred & Hill as far as the Stab: & left them there. I went opposite to Maison Barbier to call on Css Hoyas & found her at home. Sat some time with her till her husband came in from lunching with D. Carlos. I then went to the Piazzetta & walked to our glass shop where I sat & waited till Henry, A & Mr B joined me. We went to the gondola & I left them at Favenza’s & went to call on Mme Canevaro who was out. Had T downstairs & sat talking a little with Mr Burton. Wrote letters till dinner. In eveng I played harmonium & Cribbage. | |
