12 November 1882 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 12th November [1882]. It cleared up a bit & so I went to church with the girls. Mr Burton left us for Verona by the 9 AM train. After lunch I went to see Olga Mocenigo. She took me to her mother in law’s appartment to show me the old family pictures. They have Tintoretto’s sketch for his Last Judgment in the Ducal Palace also some portraits by A. Kauffman– Mlle Mocenigo (Amelia) received me & then she went with Olga & me on foot to the Hurtados. We met little Valentine & she accompanied us. We found the Hurtados out so we sent Valentine the short way home & walked to my house on this side of the canal. Showed Amelia over our house & then she went home. Olga stayed to tea & the Hurtados came later– Mildred played piano in evening. Cribbage.
