13 November 1882 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Monday. 13th [November 1882]. Modelled & Henry sat to me. I was at work again directly after lunch when in walked Marquis Maffei. He had arrived last night & gone to an hotel. We insisted on sending for his things & that he should come & stay with us. So Henry took him to fetch his things & Alice & Mildred went out also. I remained at my work till 5. They returned to tea & we sat & talked till dinner time. Count & Css Canevaro & Mlle Cozzi, Mr Tindal, Mr Stewart dined with us & several people came to tea in the eveng Ct & Css Hoyas, Olga, Mrs Briscoe, M. Pilat, Prince Metternich, Hurtados, Brackens—& remained till abt 12– | |
