14 November 1882 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Tuesday. 14th November [1882]. Talked bric a brac with Maffei & showed him all our things– Pulled out all our silks for his benefit & then spent the rest of the morning in putting them all back neatly. After lunch Henry, Maffei & I went across the canal in a gondola & walked to a shop where I pointed out some pretty brackets to Maffei. Went on to Clerle’s in search of old silks– Walked back to Piazzetta where we found the gondola. Went to the Stabilimento & then home. It began to rain & was cold– Had tea & then sat talking to Maffei. Olga called. Took leave of Maffei who starts tomorrow morng at 5 for Florence. | |
