22 November 1882 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 22nd November [1882]. Painted fan & heard Mildred read. A lovely day at last & a frosty morning. After lunch went out with Henry & the girls to Mr Malcolm’s garden. The girls went to Madonna del Orto & then joined us. We came home abt 4. Gino Marcello & Ct Contarin came to tea—also Olga Mocenigo. I wrote letters till dinner. I played harmonium in eveng & then cribbage with Henry. It appears that last Saty when we had that sudden storm there were also curious electrical phenomena in England– Electric bells rang alone—& a large electric ball much bigger than the moon passed thro’ the air at 6 in evening. The aurora borealis was seen as it had also been seen here–
