8 December 1882 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 8th December [1882]. Henry had a cold & did not get up till after breakfast. I painted my fan. Did not go out. Mme Hurtado called at 4. Idita came later & stayed some time. Wrote letters after tea. In the evening as we were sitting talking we heard a noise in the hall & I ran out to find Giovanni holding Jerry who had been fighting with Maurice– Of course we reprimanded him & sent him off to bed—but I became convinced that Jerry would not be able to remain on with us & determined to go & consult Mr Malcolm tomorrow.
