21 December 1882 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 21st December [1882]. Painted the border of my fan in the morning. After lunch recd my flowers from Florence & had to put them up. They were pretty fresh considering that they were sent off Monday. Henry walked to the Stabto & I went & called for him & we went together to the Piazza & paid a bill at Massaglio’s & come home abt 4. The gondola then took Jerry on board the “Hydaspes.” Giovanni accompanied him & gave him over & he is now regularly gone into that service. I wrote some letters before tea. After tea practised harmonium. Sat in the studio in evening reading. Prof. Dini came by some mistake, not knowing our music was put off till tomorrow. I had to go down & explain & unfortunately he cant come tomorrow so our trio will fall through. Cribbage.
