18 January 1883 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Thursday. 18th January [1883]. Still fine weather. Painted fan all morning. Mr Malcolm called after lunch– Henry & I went out together. Took a turn in the Piazza. Left a note wh Mrs Bronson to say I had remembered we had people to dinner on Saturday so that we could not go to her. Left Henry at the Stabto & went to call on Pss Windischgrätz—she was not in I called for Henry again. He went home, I went to Ersilia’s. Met Ninina Brandolin there and Trombini came & played the accompaniment of Gunod’s “Biondina” & Ersilia sang it all through to us & I got home after 5. D. & Dss de Noci, Idita Hurtado, Mlle Amelie Mocenigo & Mlle Acquaviva came to tea. I practised a little with Idita & then the harmonium by myself till dinner. Went to the Brandolins in the evening. Henry played whist– The ladies chatted & worked & we all laughed & talked loud– Came home abt 12– | |
