23 January 1883 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Tuesday. 23rd [January 1883]. Ninina Brandolin came to read with me & after she had gone I painted the fan till lunch. Cortelazzo lunched with us. Mr Bonar came at the same time & sat with us while we lunched. He bid us adieu as he leaves tomorrow for Nice. Cortelazzo went with us to Acquati to see the bronze cast they have done of my portrait of Henry. Thence to the Piazza. Henry & I took a walk on Riva Schiavoni in the sunshine & then I left Henry at the Stabto & went to see Andriana who is still laid up on sofa– Found Ct Zeno also calling– After sitting a little while I went home. Pss Olga du Montenegro came to play duetts with me– Mme Hurtado & Idita came also. Later Pss Montenegro & her sister joined them—& we played & tried over some piano & harmonium music till nearly dinner time. Went to Brandolins in the eveng & Henry played écarté with Ninina & her mother. | |
