11 February 1883 — Milton Court, nr. Dorking, Surrey | |
Sunday. 11th February [1883]. Breakfast at 9 & sat & talked the one sad subject till church time. Drove to Dorking church & walked back with Mr Rate. Lunch at 1. Sat with Alice in afternoon– Took a walk round the fields with her, Henry, Mr Rate & little Enid Rate– Came in to tea. We had supper latish & sat with Alice again in the eveng. She spoke on the one sad subject & nothing else & was in agonies of grief & floods of tears. I tremble for her health & reason– | |
