18 February 1883 — Exeter House, Roehampton
Sunday. 18th February [1883]. It was a very wet day so I did not go to church but sat talking with Maria till lunch at 2. We set off to go to church after lunch but there were so many delays, waiting one for the others &c that when we nearly got down Putney hill we found we were too late. We met Temmy coming up to see me & also Mr Wylde & we turned back with them. As we went along & talked to Mr Wylde at Henry’s chances of Rome & at that moment a phaeton driven by Ld Granville passed us & with him were Lady G. & his brother Mr F. Leveson Gower. When we got to Exeter Hse we found Henry had gone out for a walk with Richard so Mr Wylde also went for a walk & returned at tea time. Mr G. Morrison also came to tea & paid them an interminable visit long after Temmy & Mr Wylde had left. Dined at 8. Bed 11–
