1 March 1883 — 3 Savile Row
Thursday. 1st March [1883]. Worked machine made dusters, wrote &c. At 1 went off with Henry to Libertys to buy something for Susan Hambro. Found the young ladies behind the counters dressed up in costumes black dresses & red aprons & red caps—very gorgeous & very attractive but not business like & the consequence was I went out & gave it up. Went to lunch with Mrs Hamilton in Sloane St leaving Henry at the Gregorys to lunch there. I met the Leith Hays & Sir Andrew Walker at Mrs Hamilton’s. Afterwards went to see Connie found her at home & sat with her some time. Left some cards; paid Lady L. Ponsonby a visit & found Alice Du Cane there & brought her home with me to tea. At 6 Alice returned to Langham House. Henry & I dined alone. Cribbage.
