14 March 1883 — 3 Savile Row
Wednesday. 14th March [1883]. I copied the letter Monty sent to the Standard in answer to an attack on Henry in a letter in it on Saty last. I then walked up to see Blanche & we took a walk together, shopped & I got home rather late for luncheon & found the Gregorys at lunch with Henry. Henry & Sir Wm went to the National Gallery together & I took Augusta out driving with me & left her at her home & I came in at 4.30. Mrs Poynter came to see me & had tea. Mrs Hamilton also called & then Edward. We dined at Sir Henry & Lady Rawlinson’s. Met Lord Aberdare, Mrs Goschen, Lord Carlingford, Mr & Mrs Trevelyan, Mr & Lady Constance Shaw-Lefevre, Sir G. Dasent. Mr Trevelyan took me to dinner & I sat next our host. It was a pleasant evening, Lds Aberdare & Carlingford told stories & so did Henry & Sir G. Dasent.
