26 April 1883 — Milan | |
Thursday. 26th April [1883]. Went out with Henry in a cab to go to Morelli’s rooms to see his pictures. We had to make a great detour on acct of P. Pio’s funeral which was passing. When we got to Morelli’s we found Mme Frizzoni & her daughter at the door & they asked us in while Morelli’s key was being found. They were in a great state of mind as they had just heard that their son had been killed by an Avalanche in the Val Ansasca. We went in to Morelli’s rooms & then back to the Hotel Cavour & had lunch with the Sorranzo girls & then started by 12.30 train for Venice getting there at 7.15. Mr Malcolm met us at the station in his gondola—& took us home & we found he had lent us his cook. | |
