3 May 1883 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Thursday. 3rd May [1883]. A woman cook turned up & we also had Mr Malcolm’s cook so we had some food today. Went out in afternoon in gondola to see the Edens & to call on Lady Marian Alford at Hotel Britannia. She was at home & had a niece Lady Mabel Compton & a companion with her. We stayed a long time talking over many things. Amongst others Lady Marian wants to take a house for a month & I proposed the Ca’ Dario to her & she asked me to find out abt letting it to her. The Hurtados came to see me– Dined at home & played cribbage & early to bed. | |
