21 May 1883 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 21st May [1883]. Idita came for me & took me out in her sandalo with her. We went to S. Pantaleone to buy some tiny flowerpots and then across the Giudecca to a garden where we bought maidenhair to fill them with & so did not get home till after 11. It was a lovely cool almost cold morning. I wrote invitations for next Thursday & then had a visit from Miss Seymour Css Lutzow’s sister who came to look at the picture. After lunch went out in gondola with Henry left invitations. Henry walked from Mrs Bronson’s & I went in to see her & joined him at the Piazzetta. Went to the Stab: & then home had tea. Practised guitar. Went at 8 to dine with Lady Marian Alford at Ca’ Dario– Met there Lord Northampton, Lady Margaret Compton, Lord Alwyne Compton & Lady Gordon & Css Marcello. In the eveng Ld & Lady Muncaster came in & Lady Alwyne. Went home at 10.30.
