9 June 1883 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Saturday. 9th [June 1883]. Henry was not at all well. Very sick &c. Idita came & sat to me. Lunched upstairs in Henry’s room. At ¼ to 3 I went off to Mme Hurtado’s to practise for tomorrow’s singing at church. Mr Mereweather was there, also Mrs & Miss Cremer, Mr Grenfell & Leila Bagot. When it was over went to Eden’s but as she was out I hastened home to look after Henry who was better. Had my tea at 4.30. Mrs Eden came also Css Brandolin & Mrs Maxiliman Hammond & her daughter– The latter are ladies who are going in for proselytising here & whom we have hitherto avoided. After dinner in Henry’s room we went out for an hour’s row & came in abt 9. Played cribbage & went early to bed– | |
