18 June 1883 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Monday. 18th June [1883]. Idita sat to me & I modelled all the morning. Weather bad & it poured all the afternoon– This morng it was announced that Maniolo the first gondolier had been drunk all night & we had to get another man for the day & made Maniolo pay. In afternoon Henry & I put book plates into the Italian books on art he had bought of Brusa. I went on making catalogue of books. Had T at 5 & we intended to have gone out but it poured harder than ever. Dined at 7.30. Ld & Lady Bagot, Lady Gordon & Genl. de Horsey dined with us. I sang a few Spanish songs; no going out it was too wet. | |
