27 June 1883 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 27th June [1883]. Idita came & sat to me but we were both very tired & could not work much. After lunch Henry took out Miss Canning. Mrs Eden came to see me & she took me out with her to leave cards & then to have tea at her house & then brought me home. It was a very hot oppressive day. I went out again with Henry & Miss Canning to Besarel’s to see the carvings he had selected there for the Madrid Museum of Industry. Capt. Winsloe dined with us. Cortelazzo went back to Vicenza having enjoyed his visit to us. After dinner we took Capt. Winsloe & Miss Canning to the Piazza & had ices & heard the band play. The Fleet left Venice.
