29 June 1883 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 29th [June 1883]. Idita, Miss Bronson & I had our guitar lesson. Just before breakfast there was a procession down the canal of the Genoese society who had come to visit Venice. There was a steamer with a band of music—& a lot of gondolas with red flags with the lion of St Marks. It was a pretty sight. Henry took Miss Canning in the morng to see the Ducal Palace. After lunch Mrs Eden came to see me– Also Css Roubilant, Css Lützow & Mme Bentivoglio. At 5 I went out with Henry & Miss Canning—left cards & went to see the Carpaccios in the St Giorgio dei Schiavoni. Home to dinner. Went out again in the evening & took ices on the Piazza.
