2 July 1883 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 2nd July [1883]. I copied a piece of old work wh Miss C. had brought here. Ninina came to see me. Henry took Miss Canning to the picture gallery. Mme Hurtado & Idita came to say good bye as they left this afternoon. Miss Canning came home at 5 & she & I went out again to the Merceria to try & match some silks for my work. Css & Ct Brandolin dined with us & I went out with them in the eveng to the Giardinetto to have ices. Henry took Miss Canning to see the Campo S. Polo & while they were gone on foot, the brass horses of our gondola were stolen! From there he took her to the station & she returned to Florence. He joined me at the Valmaranas where Ninina & I went. There were a good many people there.
