5 August 1883 — Munich
Sunday. 5th August [1883]. I walked to the Odeon Platz to meet the MacDs & to go to morning service with them. The service is held in a large room under the great dancing rooms & it makes a very good chapel. Mrs MacDonell walked back with me to the hotel & then went on her way home. Henry & I lunched & then we took a cab & went to the MacD’s & spent the afternoon with them—talked & had tea & then we took a walk with them & left some cards. When we reached our hotel we offered to walk on a little with them on their way home—& then Henry & I came back alone. We dined at 7.30. Cribbage. I wrote to Lady Ely today. Henry left in the cab wh took us to the MacDs a parcel containing 2 necklaces we were going to send home as wedding presents. We are assured they will be found again.
