19 September 1883 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Wednesday. 19th September [1883]. Was very tired & out of sorts and could do nothing but sit & talk to Lady Dickson. After lunch read & abt 4 went with Mrs Rate & the Genl. to Guggenheim’s to join the rest of our party & was there some time hearing Mr Guggenheim talk & then returned to tea. Then we went [to] the Piazza. Mr Rate, the Genl. & I asked Trapolin to send me patterns of damask for Ct Maffei at Brussels wh he promised to do & then we came home to dinner. I went out again in the evening with the 2 gentlemen & Henry took Lady Dickson & Margie & we all met in the Piazza & had ices & then came home early. Henry & I played cribbage before going to bed. | |
