29 October 1883 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 29th [October 1883]. Made rush nests for the little birds out of rushes sent me by Mr Ross with some plants wh arrived yesterday. The de Gex’s called to see our pictures. Miss Lyall also came & sat some time talking. Lunch at ¼ 1 & then Henry went to the De Gex’s & took them out sightseeing. I potted the plants from Castagnolo with Pasquale till 3 when miss Lyall called for me & took me out with her. I left some cards & we went to look at some old lace in the Calle de Fuseri wh she thought of buying & then brought me home. Had tea in studio, wrote letters; dined 7.30. Cribbage & écarté.
