6 November 1883 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 6th [November 1883]. Mrs Kennedy being delicate remained in bed in the morning till late. Her maid was ill & did the same & they begged us to send for a Dr for her. I wrote to Richetti. Henry took the Kennedys out in the afternoon. I remained at home & put together the bird cage which arrived from Florence & I spent all the afternoon getting the birds transferred from their old to their new abode. The Kennedys came up to tea in the studio & Mrs K. was taken ill & had to return to my bedroom & lie down there. I had a long chat with Mr Kennedy abt Consple &c. Dined at 7.30. Dr Richetti being away we sent for Dr Cini to see the maid. He pronounced her to be totally unfit for travelling & to be in a critical state of health. We proposed to them to telegraph for another maid & to wait till she arrived & to send this one home. They accepted this & telegraphed at once for an old nurse. 2nd lesson of Miss Holas.
