28 November 1883 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 28th [November 1883]. Olga came to sit to me for her bust & I worked for an hour at blocking the clay. Then at 11 I had a lesson of Miss Holas the younger sister till 12. After which wrote till lunch time & made out the lists of china for the servants. Directly after lunch I went out in the gondola to pay visits. Henry went to Murano with Sr Orsi. Just as I was starting Emily R. arrived & I took her with me. I went to call on Mrs West & found her at home & sat with her & her daughter a bit– Left Emily at Guggenheim’s shop & went to call on Lady Sinclair who was out. Then home to tea– Lady Evelyn Campbell came alone to see me & we had a nice long chat. Afterwards Mrs Jopling the artist called & then Col. Crawford. When they were gone I went off to see Ersilia Canevaro & found her in & went up to see her bedroom wh was very nicely arranged. We also tried over some music together & then I had to return home as it was near dinner time. After dinner Henry & I went to the Edens– Mr & Mrs Jekyll were there on their way to India. Also Dr Facci & Miss Bronson & Miss Ker– We came home at 11. Sr Orsi had a sore throat & went to bed early.
