8 December 1883 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Saturday. 8th [December 1883]. Giovanni left Venice for England taking with him Coard. A new waiter made his appearance & we engaged him for a month at 3 fcs a day. Wrote in the morning. Made cigarettes for Henry. Mr Malcolm called. Lunched at 1. Emily R. came in just after lunch & we took her out with us to walk on the Riva degli Schiavoni—it was a lovely day. Went to see Ersilia & home after. Mr Brown, Dr Facci & Emily R came to tea. Dined at 7.30. Cribbage. | |
