21 December 1883 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 21st December [1883]. I got my household arrangements over early & at ¼ to 10 Ersilia fetched me in the gondola and we went shopping together & only got back abt 12 when I found the guitar master waiting for me—but Miss Bronson did not come– After luncheon went out with Henry & walked in Piazza & then I went to the Edens. Was told Carry E. was ill in bed but she sent me word to beg me to come up. She said she had fever & her head was bad. That she had seen Dr Cini who had forbidden her to get up & thought she was in for a gastric fever– I did not stay long as Henry was waiting in the gondola & so we went home to tea. Css Mocenigo of St Stae came to tea with 2 daughters & also Count Grün an Austrian & Mrs Palgrave & we sat up stairs in the Studio.
