24 December 1883 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 24th December [1883]. I was so busy that I could not take my guitar lesson & Miss Bronson did not come. Gave out china & glass for tomorrow’s dinner & made all arrangements. At 5 Css Canevaro & Maria Cozzi & the 2 boys & Mrs Colthorp & her boy came to tea & we had a snap dragon– Then Ersilia carried me off to St Marks where we found a special service going on & it was all lighted up & very impressive & picturesque. After dinner Henry & I went to Mrs Bronsons. She had a small party & had a Christmas Tree lighted up wh she was going to send to the Asolo d’Infantile wh she supports here– We had hot punch & she was very kind as usual but it was not very lively.
