30 December 1883 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Sunday. 30th December [1883]. Went to church. Edith Bronson played harmonium. Altho’ there were 25 people at church Mr Mereweather gave out that the services wd be suspended for some time on acct of the cold. After luncheon Mrs Jopling came to see me. I showed her all the house & pictures & she stayed an hour. Henry went to the meeting of the Vetreria. I went out at 3 to see Mrs Bronson—sat with her some time & then called for Henry at the Stto; he was not ready to come so I went home & sent back the gondola for him– Dined alone– Cribbage. | |
