7 January 1884 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Monday. 7th [January 1884]. Olga never came again so I could not work at her bust. I tried to make a little statuette in clay & could not manage to make it stick tho’ I worked at it most of the morning. Directly after lunch went out with Henry. Left him at the Britannia to see the Bruces & I went on to P. Barbarigo & sat with Carry Eden till at 4 the gondola fetched me & took me home. I found the whole Bruce family waiting for me & Emily R. gave them tea. Mrs West came to ask me about Sir Wm Gregory’s arrival as he brings her daughter from Lucerne. The Bruces all dined with us. | |
