10 January 1884 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 10th January [1884]. Olga sent word she was not well eno’ to come so I modelled at the statuette I am making for Cortelazzo to use in the centre piece he is making for us. I want him to have 4 pretty water nymphs. After lunch I went out with Henry & Sir Wm; they left me at Mrs Joplings & then Henry took on Sir Wm to the P&O, & saw him off for Ceylon. I walked from Mrs Joplings whom I found better & up to the Edens & sat with Carry who was also on the sofa. Henry called for me in gondola & came up to see Carry & then we went home leaving her with Mme de Pilat who came to call. I modelled both before & after dinner at the water nymphs & then cribbage & écarté till bed time.
