2 February 1884 — Milan | |
Saturday. 2nd February [1884]. We breakfasted at 9 & left Milan by 10.15 train for Paris via Turin & Mt Cenis. At Turin at 1.50 we lunched & on getting into the sleeping cars wh came from Rome found Mr Cartwright M.P. going also. Henry went & sat & talked with him most of the way. I remained in my compartment reading a novel. At 5.50 we got to Modane & dined & saw our friend the chef du mouvement M. Quinnicelli a few moments. Got on | |
