22 February 1884 — 3 Savile Row
Friday. 22nd February [1884]. Wrote letters in morning. After lunch went off with Henry to the Grosvenor gallery to see the Reynolds exhibition which did not quite come up to our expectation. At 3 we left cards & went down to 8 Onslow Gardens where Connie & Bee were waiting for us and we went with them to Boehm’s studio. He had Herbert Spencer sitting to him but he received us & we saw the bust of him he was just finishing & also one of Lord Somers (post) & one of Francie Rate. At 5 we went home to tea. Went to dine at 8 Onslow Gardens & met Froude there. Bee played the violin & Evely the violincello after dinner. The latter played remarkably well for a child of 15.
