19 March 1884 — 3 Savile Row
Wednesday. 19th March [1884]. Wrote in the morning. Richard Du Cane came up to see me about the House in Audley Sqr. Henry & I went to see it together & he liked it as much as I did. We went on to lunch with Lady Somers who was in better spirits & kinder than ever. After lunch we went to call on Sir Charles & Lady Layard & found them at home. Henry had a bad cold & was glad to get home. The trees were coming out but the warm weather is disappearing again. Lord Lytton came to see us & remained a long time. Mr Bunbury called & then Mr Thompson Hankey. Henry & I went to dine with Miss Grant & met the Tom Bruces & their daughter, Lady Ely & the Bishop of Lichfield. Had a pleasant evening & came home early. The Bishop was very interesting at dinner & told stories of adventures when a young man in the army when he was in India.
