20 March 1884 — 3 Savile Row
Thursday. 20th March [1884]. Henry’s cold kept him in and Mr Rate came to see him to talk over the Audley Sqr house. We lunched early & then I went off to Q. Anne St to help Blanche dress for the drawing room. Alice came up to stay with us & joined me at Blanche’s & we went on to see Mrs Tom Bruce in her drawing room gown. Lord Aberdare came to see us & Lady Bagot also to my great delight. She is in town only for a few days. Henry & I dined at the Murrays & Alice joined us in the evening. Sir Louis Pelly took me to dinner & I sat by Ld Cottesloe an old gentleman; met also Mr & Mrs Longman & Mrs Swinton. After dinner I went up to see Mrs Murray who remains always in her room & whose memory is nearly gone. There was music in the eveng. Annie Murray sang & Mr Longman also. Home early.
