13 April 1884 — Inwood, Henstridge, Somerset
Sunday. 13th April [1884]. Easter Sunday. The air had cleared so Theo was serene again & Alice, Maria & I each received an Easter present, mine being a little diamond brooch—so we exchanged kisses of peace. Directly after breakfast we all went off to church except Theo, Henry & Ly Westr. The day was bitterly cold– The church was prettily decorated with wild flowers & an Anthem was sung wh was not an easy thing for a small village choir. There was no sermon but H. Communion. I did not go out again. Alice came & sat in my room & then Arthur joined us & fell asleep in the armchair. Maria & Henry joined us later & we talked till tea time when we had to go down– After dinner there was family prayers & then we all sang hymns, I playing the piano, till past 11.
