15 April 1884 — Inwood, Henstridge, Somerset
Tuesday. 15th April [1884]. Maria, Alice & the twins drove out to see the meet. I remained at home with Arthur & saw him off. He returned to town by 11.15 train & then went & sat in my room & Mrs Austin came & sat with me. I walked in the afternoon with Henry & the others. I went to see Lady Westr’s old footman Benjamin [who] has been ill & I heard his bullfinch pipe. He has a special talent for taming & teaching them. After tea I went & sat in Maria’s room & made cigarettes till dinner time. Usual glee singing in eveng.
