29 May 1884 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 29th May [1884]. Annie still had asthma. Henry took old Mr Murray to the Archives of the Frari. Mr A. Murray went as usual abt 6 to sketch. After lunch we went off to row to the Armenian Convent all six of us together & Mr Murray was very much pleased. He told the Padres that he had known Byrons friend Padre Pasquale the first time he had come to Venice. After spending a little while there we went on to the Lido and landed at Sa Elisebetta & walked across the bathing establishment where we sat on the terrace & had coffee– There were a great many fashionable people there & several people bathing. We got home just at 7 oclock only having time to prepare ourselves for dinner. Miss Grant, Mr Horatio Brown & Mr Malcolm dined with us. We did not go out again. Annie Murray played & sang.
