11 July 1884 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 11th [July 1884]. Mrs Eden came to see me & sat some time. I sat all the morning talking to Cortelazzo & finished netting Henry a purse. There was a little more air today. Arranged & packed. Mme Castellani, Mme Nitta & Mme Valmarana called to bid me goodbye. After tea I went out in gondola with Arthur to bid Mrs Bronson adieu. She was unwell & cd not see me. Miss Grant was also out & so is recovering & leaves here on Sunday. Malcolm dined with us. After dinner Henry, Alice & Arthur went to the Lido & took Mrs Eden with them. Fine night– They went to Mestre & got home at 11. Ersilia called for me & took me in gondola & then I went in to her house for a little while to see Ct Canevaro & Maria– The Bentivoglio family came there & Ct Alvise Mocenigo. At 10 Ersilia went out again & took me home & I went to bed– Very hot night.
