13 July 1884 — La Punta, Longarone
Sunday. 13th July [1884]. Breakfast in our rooms– Lovely day hot but not oppressive. We lunched at 12. Read & copied for Henry. I had not recovered the heat of Venice so I remained quiet at home. At 4 the others all went for a drive. When the sun had gone behind the hills I went out & sat in the garden– Had tea there—& read till the others returned at 6.30– We dined at 7 & sat in the garden talking till nearly 10 when we went to bed. We could see the scirocco clouds & heat mists at the end of the valley but they did not reach us & we were glad of a shawl while sitting out.
