24 July 1884 — La Punta, Longarone
Thursday. 24th [July 1884]. Arthur & Mr Malcolm went off to Amorys at 5 P.M. Henry & I breakfasted in our room & then I copied all the morning till lunch at 12. After lunch Alice & I sat in the drawing room & painted flowers till 4 o’clock tea & then we went out, Alice to sketch Castillo & I to paint on the terrace. I took a walk with Henry as far as the mills & then came home & I read aloud to Henry finishing an article on Spanish literature in the Quarterly– Then came a telegraph from Mr Malcolm to say they wd be home at 8 so we waited dinner. Henry & I sat on the terrace & I made cigarettes. After dinner I made some more and we went to bed at ten to be ready for an early start tomorrow morning– our luggage was sent on this evening. The earthquake we felt Sunday evening was felt more severely at Agram.
