11 September 1884 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Thursday. 11th [September 1884]. I had my first lesson in copying of M. Desideri & we began to copy our Madonna & child by Luini. At 11 Miss Holas came to study Henrys MS but found she could not do it & had to give it up. After lunch I went out to call on Mme Valmarana & then went home to tea. Mme Mimaut, the French Consul’s wife called on me. We went to dine with the Edens at 7.30 and spent the evening in looking over my flower book & finding out the names of some of them. The cholera very bad at Naples 1000 cases yesterday. | |
