17 November 1884 — Paris
Monday. 17th November [1884]. Maria had not been very well in the night so we did not go out till 11. Rd & Dacre went out together & Maria & I went to shop at the Louvre returning to lunch. Idita Hurtado came at 2 & she & Maria & I went shopping & walking together. It was a bitterly cold day. The cholera is very much diminished. Came in at 5 & had tea. Mme Hurtado came later & fetched away Idita. Henry & I dined at Lady Walsham’s. Met the Villiers, Mr Atlee & a Miss Howard of Corby a young lady who is an orphan & is living in Paris by herself. We had a very pleasant evening.
